Hi. I'm generally interested n how many real HipHop- and R&B-Fans there are on the zone, who's your favourite rapper/R&B-singer and so on, but I'm also interested in the opinions of people who don't like HipHop. Tell me why you do or you don't like it.

Hmm, tough one.
Well, even if I like some rap and r&b groups I have to say I am not a fan.
Those that I do like are, to some extent, the Fudgees, Eminem occasionally, the Streets (although that is more beat poetry/garage, not considered rap), and everything has its place r&b and rap e.g. are great or somehow appropriate when you're driving in a very cool car or driving really fast, the roof must be down and the cre must be convertable, then it somehow makes more sense.
My main problem with r&b is that basically all they do is to use a drum loop, a sample of an old song and then have some singer with questionable tallent and an even worse rapper do voice overs, not even changing the original melody. Occasionally those rappers or singers are good, hence the good songs and when played really loud the drum beats can actually be quite cool (they got some good beats, e.g. the Roots do a great job and their live drummer is amazing). I don't like the r&b singing style for the most part, it's a bit too whiny and often just that little bit too suggestive. I also reallydislike the violence/gangster glorification in most of these songs, making it cool to "live in the hood" and go on "drive by shootings" or alterntively the folks either whine about how hard it is to be rich and famous "Eminem anyone, even if he's funny and great at times" or talk about how sexy they are or how cool they are "Dr Dre .. Forgot about Dre?" .. or, of course, create internal fudes through rap songs offending other folks. This can be funny at times I do admit but glorifying a life style like that just does not appeal to me and the music often lacks a lot of depth that I seak or want to find in music. :)
So, I'm not against hiphop, I'm not against any genre and I like all sots of music, in addition to things I already mentioned I like some songs by Destiny's Child (well they're not strictly hiphop), Lauren Hill (Can't take my Eyes of You, cover was pretty and she's a great singer) etc.
Cheers
-B

I'm nore in to the underground hip hop stuff that originated out of Detroit. True, Eminem, Kid Rock who isn't really a rapper, and some big names come from Detroit, but I still like the more underground people such as Dice, Esham, etc. I also like some of the main stream stuff, but I'm becoming less and less impressed with it. I'm starting to get in to breakbeat now, since it is a little more developed but also contains some of the elements of hip hop.

Terror Squad
Lil' Flip
Twista
Talib Kweli
and Jadakiss.
R&B artists/groups I like include:
Alicia Keys
Usher
Genuwine

Xscape (older group, but I enjoy a lot of their stuff)
and others that aren't coming to mind at the moment.

:) That's about it.

I like most kinds of music, though I'm not fond of most rap, but I'd have to say my favorite group, who I believe fits into this category, is City High.

Hmm...I like all kinds of music, but right now form the ones i own anyway I think my faves would have to be Craig David, som of Blu Cantrell's stuff Nelly and Fifty. I like the way they keep it real, OK so some of it's stuff that is sort of questionable, but from what I've heard from the latter ttwo artists I mentioned, I think some exceptions should be allowed. Just me, though. I'm like a lot in here who like a lot of the old school stuff along with some of the newer stuf...but not a lott of the new.

Cash money's good!! You're right!!! Lil' JOhn is - in my opinion - screaming more than rapping and mostly he only says "okay", "yeah", and "let's go". Lol.

It's okay. I prefer Lloyd Banks' voice though, and fifty's voice, these voices are more sexy (in my opinion). Lostgirl27, good music you like!!!!
